Don Baas

PT, CEO

Don earned his Physical Therapy degree from Fresno State University in 1990 and has been providing patient care, practice management, and clinical development since. Don has focused on out-patient physical therapy with his first leadership role in the Seattle Washington area, managing and developing a successful multidisciplinary team focused on both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation. Don has also co-developed multiple highly successful Urgent and Family Care Centers in the Portland, Oregon area and is currently the CEO and co-developer/co-owner of Western Physical Therapy, Inc., our multi-practice company with offices from the Sacramento area to north of Redding. Highlights of Don’s patient care career include working with high level throwing athletes during their rehabilitation for shoulder and elbow injuries with a focus on clinical healing and prevention through education of proper throwing mechanics; programs development for pre and post-surgical rehabilitation patients; as well as mentoring and developing treatment and clinical operational skills for Physical Therapists taking leadership roles within the company. It has been Don’s highest privilege to work alongside of and learn from and grow with our fine physical therapists and supporting staff at all levels. Don is a longtime Redding resident and a graduate of Enterprise High School, later attending Shasta College before transferring to Fresno State. He is a cycling enthusiast, an avid fisherman, and enjoys hiking, biking, and traveling with his family. He and his wife Erin have two children at home, and a third that is married with a young son of their own.

Brian Baas

PT, CFO

Brian earned his Physical Therapy degree from Fresno State University in 1992 and has been providing patient care, practice management, and clinical development since. Brian also has extensive experience in leadership and team development within the outpatient physical therapy setting as well as providing basketball coaching for area schools. Brian is the CFO and co-developer/co-owner of Western Physical Therapy, Inc., our growing organization of outpatient physical therapy practices. He has been extensively involved with systems and business development as well as private practice consulting. He is active in community outreaches, has served as Anderson High School’s athletic team therapist, and enjoys developing physical therapy programs. Brian also is a long time Redding resident, attending North Valley Christian School prior to a brief period in San Diego for high school during which he was a leader academically and on the basketball court. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his two daughters playing basketball, golfing, wake surfing, and cycling.

Kevin Elo

MPT, Leadership and Development

Kevin earned his Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Evansville, is a Licensed Athletic Trainer, a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, and a Certified Ergonomic Assessment Specialist. Kevin joined Western Physical Therapy in 2015 and is providing patient care as well as leadership and development. Over the past 20 years, he has been involved significantly in orthopedics, sports medicine, performing arts medicine, and work related rehabilitation. He had been a successful private practice owner for eight years in the Northwest Indiana/Chicagoland area. Highlights of his career include working at the NFL Combine medical re-check, being a Preferred Provider of Physical Therapy/Athletic Training for USA Gymnastics, an initial member of the Drum Corps Medical Project, as well as serving as an Athletic Trainer at the High School/College/Professional levels. Kevin has also served as a consultant for sports teams, as well as various businesses for health/wellness/ergonomics. Kevin is an active percussionist/drummer, is a voice-over artist, plays volleyball and basketball, youth athletic coach, and is busy in the church music ministry.

Garret Gheen

MPT, Division Leader

Garret received his Master’s degree in Physical Therapy and his Bachelor’s in Health Science from Loma Linda University in 2004. Garret began his career developing new coursework and curriculum for some of the latest physical therapy techniques before moving to the Redding area to assume the leadership of Anderson Physical Therapy. Garret is currently taking some time away with his family and will transition into divisional leadership by September 2018. Additionally, Garret is training to become an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist, certified through the American Physical Therapy Association. Garret is a devoted family man, and along with his family, is active in sports and outdoor recreation including mountain biking, running, hiking, golfing, fly fishing, snowboarding, and surfing.

Patricia Harrison

Human Resources/ Credentialing Specialist

In 2002, Patty was the first hire on the team that eventually became Western Physical Therapy. Her vast responsibilities include credentialing, book keeping, supply management within all ten clinics, employee paperwork and benefits, coordinating maintenance on equipment, and is the first contact for any minor disasters that occur. She has provided years of dedication and leadership to individual staff members and our company as a whole. As a long time Redding resident, she enjoys attending local events and spending time with her family.

Jeanne Artress

Accountant / Bookkeeping

Jeanne has been a crucial part of Western Physical Therapy for the past two years. Her role with Western Physical Therapy is to manage all of the accounting for our organization which includes responsibility for the general ledger, payroll and accounts payable. Previously, Jeanne worked for our CFO, who is one of the company’s owners, in a different company. In addition, she owns and operates a book keeping service for a number of companies in the Redding area. Jeanne was born in Ethiopia and serves as the Secretary/Treasurer of a non-profit organization called FAME (Foundation for African Medicine & Education). Fame has been providing medical care and promoting medical education to remotely located Tanzanian communities for ten years. In addition to handling FAME’s accounting in Redding, CA, Jeanne spends two months out of the year in Tanzania, volunteering. Jeanne is detail oriented and thoroughly enjoys accounting.

Clarice Davis

Billing Manager

Clarice has been with Western Physical Therapy since 2007, and has ten years of patient care experience prior to joining our staff. She is the team leader of six enthusiastic medical billers, and leads by example with her impeccable work ethic, being detail oriented, and providing excellent communication with staff and patients. Her responsibilities include coordinating our billing efforts, managing our software security, providing technical support for our clinics, providing credentialing assistance and maintaining accounts receivable records. In her free time, Clarice enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband.

James Penn

Maintenance and Repair

James was born in Tripoli, Libya, but spent most of his life in Houston, Texas (Go ASTROS!), later earning his civil engineering degree from Texas A&M University. After spending more than 22 years working in the offshore oil and gas industry as a structural engineer, James along with his wife Michelle decided to relocate to Redding to be closer to her family and to enjoy the natural beauty and relaxed lifestyle that Northern California has to offer. In his free time, James’ hobbies include hiking, snow skiing, fishing, and woodworking, and he enjoys his job with Western Physical Therapy performing maintenance and new space development.

April Kwiatkowski

Marketing/Recruiting

April has been with Western Physical Therapy since 2016 and loves the varied experiences and daily interactions she gets to make as a part of the management team doing Marketing and Recruiting. She is committed to developing a marketing campaign that benefits the communities around each clinic, and to recruiting staff who provide excellent patient care and bring positive energy to each clinic. When she is not working, April keeps busy with housesitting and drumming at church, and enjoys spending her free time with friends and family, being outdoors, hiking, and baking delicious creations for her coworkers’ birthdays.
